CellularOne Customer Information Overview
Welcome to CellularOne. In order to help you understand your new wireless service, here are answers to some questions commonly asked by new customers. In addition to reviewing this document, it is very important that you read all of your Service Agreement, including the Terms and Conditions, and calling plan brochure. Once you have reviewed these materials, we will be happy to explain any portion of your agreement or answer your questions.
Your Agreement
Your agreement for cellular service with CellularOne begins when you sign the agreement, or when you call to activate your cellular service, or when you open the inside package of any cellular equipment you received by mail, whichever applies.
Your Calling Plan
Your calling plan is part of your agreement with CellularOne. Please take a copy with you and be sure to read it carefully. It explains how you will be charged for your cellular service.
Agreement Term and Early Termination
Your contract will be for the initial term required by your price plan or relevant promotion, usually two years. If you cancel during this term, a $240.00 early termination fee will apply. At the end of your initial term, your agreement will convert to a month-to-month term.
Peak/Off Peak Hours
For some calling plans, your per minute home airtime rates may be determined by the time of day you place the call. Please refer to your calling plan brochure for the peak and off-peak hours in your area.
Roaming
When you make or receive calls outside of your home airtime rate area, you are "roaming". Our home coverage map may assist you in determining when you are roaming. Per minute roaming airtime rates and cellular long distance rates may vary based on charges established by the visited system and at our discretion. You may be charged when you make a call that is busy or unanswered. Also, daily fees and other charges may apply. Airtime minutes used while roaming are not part of your service plan allowance, unless your price plan states otherwise. Automatic roaming availability may be restricted in certain areas to prevent fraud or for other reasons. Roaming rates may vary where automatic roaming is restricted.
Reading Your Statement
Dates
The invoice date refers to the date of the statement. The billing date indicates the current billing month.
Monthly
Monthly Access charges are billed one month in advance. On your first statement, you will be billed for the portion of the monthly access charge calculated from the date you began service to your first bill cycle date, plus the next month's access charge. Because of this pro-rate your first statement may be larger than subsequent bills.
Monthly Minute Allowance
Most calling plans offer a monthly minute allowance. This is a set amount of airtime minutes allocated under your calling plan. Unused airtime minutes are forfeited and you may not carry them into the next billing cycle or apply to other phone lines. Your first minutes of home airtime will be applied to your allowance; for example, if your plan included 30 minutes of airtime, the first 30 minutes of home rate airtime will be deducted. Toll, regional calling and cellular long distance charges are not part of airtime allowance minutes and will be charged separately. Plans that offer minimum usage requirements are charged the allotted airtime each month plus any additional airtime used.
Chargeable Time
Charges for calls begin when "SEND" is pressed and end when the call is disconnected from the cellular system, which may be a few seconds after pressing "END" when you are in your home anytime rate area. You are not charged for ring time, busy signals, or unanswered calls within your home service area. Calls are billed in full minute increments; for example, a 1 minute 20 second call will be charged as 2 minutes. All calls, when answered, incur a 1 minute minimum unless your price plan states otherwise. Calls to 911 and certain other emergency services are toll and airtime free. However, airtime is charged on calls to toll-free (800, 888, etc) numbers.
Home Airtime Rate Area
Your home airtime rate area is the geographical area where your home airtime rates apply. This may or may not be different from you cellular local calling area. In certain instances, you may incur toll, regional calling, or cellular long distance charges on calls made within your home airtime rate area. Cellular One defines your home airtime rate area boundaries as well as cellular local calling area boundaries. These are subject to change. Home airtime rate areas may also be referred to as home service areas or home calling areas.
Toll, Regional Calling and Cellular Long Distance
Toll, regional calling and cellular long distance charges are in addition to home airtime charges for your calls. You will incur these charges when you are in a cellular local calling area and place a call to a number outside this area. As with all cellular calls, these charges are based on your location at the start of the call and do not change even though you may move during the call. Cellular long distance charges may vary while roaming based on the rates of the visited system.
Taxes and Surcharges
Your statement will include state and (where applicable) local taxes. It may also include surcharges and assessments. These charges are based on the rates applicable to your service address and the location where the call is processed. Taxes incurred while roaming will be billed at the rate charged by the state where the service is used and are based on the tax imposed by the visited system, and/or the tax imposed by your home state.
Sales tax of 8.1% is charged on cellularoneonline.com. Taxes are additional on all purchases, services and replenishments.
Dispute Resolution and Independent Arbitration
Most customer concerns can be resolved through our Customer Solutions Department. However, if you have an issue which cannot be resolved without third party intervention, Cellular One will arbitrate with you before the American Arbitration Association using the Wireless Industry Arbitration rules. This means that all customer disputes will be resolved through arbitration, not through judge or jury.
Caller ID
Your cellular phone number and account name may appear on the phone screen of a person you call. You can block this feature for most calls by dialing *67 before each call (dial *82 to unblock)
Directory Assistance/*411 Plus
Enhanced directory assistance is available through 411 Connect, a directory, information and call completion service for CellularOne. A live operator will assist you when you request numbers, addresses and a wide variety of information. A per-call fee plus airtime and other charges apply.
Please note that we reserve the right to make changes to the Cellular Service Agreement as well as to our business practices and procedures.
